The American Probation and Parole Association will host its largest event of the year, the APPA 37th Annual Training Institute, beginning Aug. 12 in Indianapolis, and BI will help facilitate a workshop presentation entitled “Day Reporting Centers: The good, the bad and the ugly” on Aug. 14.
This workshop features three experienced DRC corrections professionals: Mark Carey, President of The Carey Group; Jennifer Ferguson, former Research Analyst for the Maricopa County Adult Probation Department; and Matt Moore, Regional Director, Community Based Services, GEO Care. These experts are versed in the foundations of the day reporting model, and they plan to discuss how interventions in community corrections can reduce offender risk and recidivism. As the workshop title indicates, they also plan to discuss how DRCs vary in scope and services, and offer practical and proven suggestions for agencies considering implementing a DRC model.
